About me
Christian Fazili Mihigo is a Deputy Public Prosecutor in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), whose work bridges judicial practice, academia, and digital rights advocacy. A lecturer and researcher at the University of Goma, he teaches constitutional law and human rights while spearheading studies on technology’s intersection with justice. His scholarship directly informs his prosecutorial approach: his LL.M dissertation, *Critical Reflections on Principles Governing Privacy and Data Protection in the DRC*, dissected gaps in national frameworks and now shapes his handling of cases involving digital evidence, surveillance, and cybercrimes. Fazili champions GDPR-inspired data protection standards for African judiciaries, advocating reforms that address the continent’s unique socio-technical tensions—such as reconciling state security needs with citizens’ rights to privacy and free expression.
